Joel Barbee, 1935-2010 – On May the 20th, 2010, Joel passed away at the age of 75 in California, U.S. His passion for expressing his ideals as well the outlook of the many was tantamount to his success as an Editorial Cartoonist. Joel was an artist for Disney, Hallmark, Carls Junior as well as a political cartoonist for 10 years.

Joel began Contributing to the NFP in November 2006 and was an avid supporter of our idea of a Free Press. His cartoons were outrageously funny, deadly serious and in some cases – quite controversial!

Joel described himself as “a political junkie, a compulsive obsessive cartoonist of long standing, and addicted to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness!” He forgot to add “avid fisherman” to his repertoire!

The 'Incumbants' was the last cartoon that Joel sent along. Fortunately, we had stockpiled many of Joel’s previous cartoons and as a result, we will continue the Joel Barbee Collection for some time to come...
