Dear Editors: I am a Colorado resident/author of a new book: "Profile," a fiction work that explores the underlying use of profiling in South Florida criminal prosecutions – a different spin, but relevant to the Zimmerman case. May I suggest you take a look at the publisher’s release and my op ed? The story in part examines the history of profiling in South Florida - a drug courier profile; an institutional response to the explosive U.S. government's war on drugs that began in South Florida. Imagine being a young Clarence Thomas, driving the Florida turnpike where the Florida Highway Patrol's written training policy (in 1985) was that "ethnic" groups driving late model cars were "suspicious." Worth noting in the Zimmerman case: the arrest affidavit said Zimmerman "profiled" Martin before he shot him.
